Connection Center

Our Connection Center provides a variety of services for the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Family Courts of Fond du Lac and Washington County. Through contracts with these agencies, the Family Resource Center hosts supervised visitations between children and their parents, respite care for foster children, and teaches court-ordered divorce counseling classes for children.

Visitation

The Family Resource Center host supervised visitations in our themed playrooms at our location and our visitation supervisors over see interactions between separated parents and their children. The documentation of these visits serves to influence a parent’s case for unification by DSS and the family courts. This service helps social workers lighten their case load and create opportunities for children and parents to see each other on days when the social worker is not available to do so. Visitation is only available for families referred by DSS and the family courts.

Respite Care

The Family Resource Center hosts respite care for foster families on a referral basis. This service gives foster parents a break as we watch the children for a day. During respite, children socialize with each other through play, group activities, and themed crafts.

Children in the Middle

Our parent educators teach court-ordered divorce classes for children know as “Children in the Middle.” This class is taught on-site and helps children understand their situation. The class is designed to provide an outlet for conversation and teaches constructive techniques to cope with their feelings in a healthy manner. Children are referred to the class by the family courts.
