Volunteer
.
The Family Resource Center provides a variety of volunteer opportunities. We can cater to individual volunteers, pairs, and small groups. We have a variety of one-time and consistent volunteer opportunities. People have the opportunity to engage in perspective-building community service and engage with a diverse range of populations.
Respite Care.
Respite care is a service for foster families and foster children. Respite volunteers will watch and play with children while assisting staff. Respite care is held at the Children’s Museum on alternating Saturdays.
Cleaning Toys.
Our visitation rooms are filled with toys that children and families play with when visiting each other under supervision by social services and the family courts. Volunteers will clean toys and organize the playrooms.
Inventory.
The distribution center uses a variety of aid that is stored. Tracking the amount of aid we have in stock becomes difficult for staff to maintain and assess our inventory. Volunteers will count various materials such as diapers, formula, wipes, etc.
Distribution Aid.
The distribution center distributes a wide variety of aid to families. Volunteers will assist staff in distributing aid to families during distribution hours and maintaining stock. A perfect opportunity for students to do homework and amass volunteer hours.
Donation Aid.
The FRC receives a large share of donations of all types for our distribution center. Volunteers will organize and sort through donated items, label books, count items donated, and count clothing to be sent out.
Inventory Organization.
The FRC oversees a variety of services and staff are constantly having to organize and sort through our inventory. Volunteers will organize basement storage and inventory.
Office Aid.
Volunteers will clean our office, lobby, and visitation rooms. Volunteers will also assist the office manager in doing miscellaneous tasks around our office such as creating monthly crafts and working on simple projects. Volunteers will work with staff to create a kid-friendly space by creating interactive craft walls for children.
Groups Projects & Service Opportunities
The Family Resource Center has plenty of opportunities for clubs and organizations to volunteer together. The volunteer opportunities above can be done as a group also. Groups and clubs interested in volunteering at the FRC should email us or call us to set something up. We are also able to send projects with clubs to be done off-site. If you are a club that is looking for in-service club meeting activity we can send projects with you to be done at your meetings.
